Various APA policy documents are to be found here too. The website of the main professional organization for UK psychologists. Much improved site and certainly much better than the original which the book described rather generously as "modest but effective". The new site is easier to navigate and has a much more professional feel. If your University or college library subscribes to BPS journals then you should be able to access them from her have access to some BPS journals from here. There are also hyperlinks which help you jump through the document to find what you need. Electronic Reference Formats (As recommended by the American Psychological Association) This web page explains in detail how you should cite web pages if you refer to them. You should find this useful if you want to refer to information you find from the web pages mentioned in this book. Heavy US focus but all-in-all a superior quality website with a strong emphasis on support for those interested in academic rather than pop psychology. Game Theory (server currently not available @ 12 May 2001 ) A page that deals with a theory that has had considerable impact in biology, economics and more recently psychology. Game Theory attempts to explain how to or more rational individuals try to anticipate how each other will act.
An first rate resource for the learning about the structure of arguments and their analysis University of Northern Colorado - Guide to Arguments and their Evaluation A more systematic site that the Glossary above, and with the unique added feature of an invitation to send in your arguments for assessment by philosophy lecturers and students at UNC. Possibly too much time on their hands. Still, an excellent site with a light touch.
Bill Trochims Centre for Social Research Methods A breathtaking hypertext guide to all things methodological. A quantitative bias but very comprehensive and authoritative. The Knowledge Base is an electronic textbook on research methods in the social science which continues to expand. American Psychological Association Ethics Guidelines Award-winning multimedia on-line psychology laboratory featuring interactive experiments in memory, auditory and visual perception learning and cognition hosted by the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Some experiments require users to download a small plugin, but it's worth it.

For our purposes this article can be read as a clear practical guide to writing inductively in psychology since the main thrust of the piece is how to present specific pieces of evidence from a wide range of sources to present a clear general conclusion.

Also contains links to other social psychology sites. Biographical and bibliographic details on Stanley Milgram Nice little interactive site devoted to the detailed analysis of social behaviour. A good example of how reductionism in social psychology can be a helpful orientation in the right context. Elaboration Likelihood Model of Persuasion and the World Wide Web A fascinating article applying ELM to advertising on the world wide web. A must for any psychologist interested in the web. An interesting site which promotes QuizCards to support Open University psychology courses. However, the on-line examples make a useful little interactive exercise in their own right for all psychology students. Each answer comes with a full explanation and book reference. Invaluable for Open University psychology students. The website is mentioned here under Chapter 7 as the questions on social psychology are particularly worth looking at.

Combines information on academic, clinical and support group work effectively. A comprehensive US site dealing authoratively with all aspects of mental health.
